Thank You for allowing Me to Represent You at our Capitol
I would truly appreciate receiving your vote in the August Primary and November General elections.
As the chairman of the powerful House Government and Higher Education Committees for the past two years, I have helped our state, our educational system and worked to balance our state budgets. I also served on the Education, Federalism and Rules Committees, and I co-Chaired the Arizona Mining Caucus.
Arizona Daily Independent lists the many published stories where I have been quoted.
Click Here to view the numerous bills that I ran and co-sponsored in 2016, including: HCR-2025 Purple Heart State Day to remember our military veterans who were wounded or killed in action, and HB-2585 that will ensure that the Federal Government does not take more land than it is legally allowed when creating National Monuments within Arizona.
2017 State Budget Accomplishments include: FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY: a Constitutionally required structurally balanced budget that paid-off $232 mil. in state rollover debt. House Republicans blocked proposed Democratic spending that would have added hundreds of millions of dollars of new state debt onto our taxpayers. EDUCATION: $232 mil. to the Universities which included $200 mil. in state rollover repayments. New University of Arizona large animal veterinary school. Over $306 mil. for K-12, which includes $225 mil. when Prop 123 passes, $31 mil. to support current year funding, and the continued support for district charter schools. HEALTH, ADULTS, SENIORS & CHILDREN: Adult dental and podiatry AHCCCS insurance coverage. Alzheimer's research. Meals on wheels for seniors. $3 mil. for the developmentally disabled. $140.5 mil. for DCS and backlog reduction, which includes $21 mil in state rollover repayments. $21 mil. for DES in state rollover repayments. $20 mil. for a new Flagstaff military veterans home. JOBS & ROADS: $86.5 mil. for state and local HURF highway projects, including the expansion of state route 189 (port of entry) and the I-10 fast lane near Picacho Peak. SAFETY & PROTECTION: $1 mil. for wildfire safety. The new Border Strike Force to curtail drug cartels and human traffickers. An overdue 3% pay raise for DPS Highway Patrol officers. Funding for adult probation programs. $8.7 mil. reduction in county juvenile corrections costs.
